Contests!
For the 2014-2015 school year, Anime Club will be holding contests throughout the year to earn awesome prizes! Each first place winner of all four main contests will win a 3-Day Animazement 2015 Badge. This is to promote those who don't have the budget to purchase a badge, do have a chance to use their variety of skills to earn one so they can try to attend at least one of the conventions we plan on going to throughout the year, Animazement. However, if a participant won a Major Four Contest in first place, they cannot enter another Major Four Contest. This is to ensure that the four badges go to four different people.
Major Four Contests
Cosplay Craftsmanship Contest (Oct 1 - March 25)
The first contest of the year is the Cosplay Craftsmanship Contest! This contest has the longest duration. The participants create at least 50% of their costumes. For example, if a costume requires a wig or shoes you don't have, go buy it. You aren't expected to make a wig or shoes from scratch. However, the clothing and armor for the character you will need to make basically from scratch. There will be six Cosplay Workshops to have opportunities to work on your costumes as well as get proper tutorials and demonstrations to learn how to make your costume(s). The character must be appropriate enough to feel comfortable wearing in front of your parents, small children, and strangers. It would also help if the costume was fairly simple for a first try.
Prizes:
- 1st: A $25 Giftcard to Joann's Fabric and Crafts Store, and a 3-Day Animazement 2015 Badge

Japanese and Anime Culture Event (JACE )
Though the date is undecided, it will likely be on a Saturday before Winter Break. The day is to promote Japanese and Anime culture as well as the Anime Club. A range of activities will go on including a Cosplay Cafe, Manga Library, Anime Video Rooms, Informative Panels, A Video Game Tournament, and short 'classes' which are more like panels, as used best throughout the anime convention community (though it's not big enough nor proper enough to be called an anime convention.)
To those not in anime club or donating/helping/volunteering, there is a $2 admission fee per person. That's it. No checks or credit/debit cards of any kind will be accepted. Only cash.
The JACE Day will be open to all in Kestrel, as well as to the public.
